{"id":135,"date":"2020-01-24T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-01-24T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ogmios.org\/blog\/?p=135"},"modified":"2020-04-07T09:38:38","modified_gmt":"2020-04-07T09:38:38","slug":"fel-executive-committee-member-tjeerd-de-graaf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ogmios.org\/blog\/fel-executive-committee-member-tjeerd-de-graaf\/","title":{"rendered":"FEL Executive Committee member Tjeerd de Graaf"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><em>In today&#8217;s post, we introduce another member of the FEL Executive Committee.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"200\" class=\"wp-image-137\" style=\"width: 150px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ogmios.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/tjeerd_de_graaf_s.jpg\" alt=\"\">  Tjeerd de Graaf<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I live in the\nNetherlands and am associated with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercator-research.eu\/en\/\">Mercator Centre<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fryske-akademy.nl\/en\/\">Fryske Akademy<\/a> in Ljouwert (Leeuwarden). My current interest\nis the digitisation and description of analogue sound recordings and their use\nfor scientific and educational purposes. Some of my own material is related to\nthe language of the Siberian Mennonites who spoke <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercator-research.eu\/en\/projects\/endangered-languages-and-archives\/plautdietsch-a-germanic-language-related-to-dutch-and-frisian-spoken-in-siberia\/\">Plautdietsch<\/a>, a variety of Low German, which is related to\ndialects in the North of the Netherlands.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019 we finished the publication of a volume with articles on historical data for several languages in Eurasia, including Uralic languages in a book on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pegasusboek.nl\/the-fascination-with-inner-eurasian-languages-in-the-17th-century.html\"><em>North and East Tartary<\/em><\/a> by the Amsterdam scholar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercator-research.eu\/projekten\/endangered-languages-and-archives\/the-nicolaas-witsen-project\/\">Nicolaas Witsen<\/a>. My work is also related to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kulturstiftung-sibirien.de\/index_E.html\">Foundation for Siberian Cultures<\/a> and the publication of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercator-research.eu\/en\/knowledge-base\/regional-dossiers\/\">Regional Dossiers<\/a> on the teaching of minority languages by the Mercator Centre of the Frisian Academy. We prepared several issues in this series, such as one on the teaching of Hungarian in Slovakia, Romania, Slovenia and Ukraine, as well as of some endangered languages of Russia (Nenets, Khanty, Selkup, Udmurt).
