FEL is committed to raising awareness of endangered languages throughout the world and supporting their revitalisation and preservation. Each year, we award grants to projects that further these aims. We are now inviting proposals for projects for 2017-2018 that will support the use of one or more endangered languages anywhere in the world.

See examples of the projects we support through our grants.

Members of FEL with a current subscription of any type may apply. If you are not yet a member then please join before applying (see our Membership page).

Priority is given to projects that focus on the revitalisation of an endangered language and/or support the use of an endangered language in its community.

In general, we award up to US $1,000 for successful proposals. Proposals for smaller amounts may have a better chance of receiving funding.

We awarded 7 new grants in the last round and 11 grants in the previous round (grants were not awarded in 2016).

See also examples of the projects we support through our grants.

Currently FEL also administers proposals for Navlipi grants. These grants can be applied for where proposals specifically involve transcription and where applicants are willing to use the Navlipi script for transcription. See the Call for Proposals for more information ( DOCX PDF ).
